Imaginary fabric shopping

I can't quite seem to get my act together to start on a new sewing project, but I can quite easily spend hours on my laptop looking at pretty things, such as these fabrics that would make amazing Summer skirts and sundresses.

The first three are part of Cloud 9's swoonsome new collection, 'Beyond the Sea', and the others are part of Anna Maria Horner's Little Folks collection of voiles.

I really can't justify spending any more money on fabric until I've worked my way through some of my existing stash, but by alerting you lot to these beauties I hope to vicariously shop through you! Sorry!

[Soundtrack: 'Good Intentions Paving Company' by Joanna Newsom - I just can't seem to get enough of this song!]

  1. At least I am not the only one... I tend to look through cute projects that people make... and fantasize about making them too... just that it would take my entire lifetime to make all that I see... my eyes are quicker than my sewing skills. Sometimes I start sewing just to stop looking at yet another project.

    The story of my life!

How do find all these beautiful fabrics? That one with the birds would make a sensational sundress.

  4. Ooh the birds the birds! I am thinking they would make a lovely 1930's back buttoned blouse to wear with a pair of navy linen sailor pants...

  5. Hi Tilly, I must have been picking up your vibe! I have just returned from the US with over 20 yards of fabric including some of the ones you've pictured. I am also normally a virtual window shopper but with all the choice I just got carried away. As you can imagine my To Do list is huge but I spend too much time getting inspiration from blogs. Anyway must get on....... :)

  6. Those sandhopper birds (or whatever they're called) are so darn cute! I've bought a yard of it to make myself a summer top. Couldn't afford more than that... shame it's so expensive (I know it's organic cotton, but at twice the price, you have to think carefully before you buy it!). Otherwise I'd have happily made an entire dress out of it, it's just so fresh and summery!
