Autumn Inspiration: Une Femme est une Femme

What's your favourite source of Autumn fashion tips? When I see the leaves turning golden brown and feel the first nip in the air, my thoughts turn to coloured tights, cardigans, macs, brollies... and Une Femme est une Femme. While far from being my favourite Jean-Luc Godard picture (in fact, I find it a bit annoying), it totally channels these things in the red and blue combo I love so. Plus, I can't hide the fact that I have a major girl-crush on Anna Karina, Godard's muse who married him during the film's production. This year it's providing inspiration aplenty for my sewing wish list...

... a checked drindl skirt with cinched-in waist (that top is a cardigan worn back-to-front, by the way)...

... faux fur collar for my coat...

... pencil skirts...

... teamed with red tights, bien sûr...

... soft white coat...

... and... okay, so maybe it would be going a bit far to make this. But the colour combo is dreamy!

Do you have a favourite Autumn inspiration movie?

  1. I still do not I have that movie in my collection, so this is a good way to start looking for it to include. The costumes are wonderful in these pics and I love the bow higher than the actress looks in the second picture, adorable! Do you will to sew some dress of this film?

  4. I've never seen Une Femme est une Femme, but I love her hairstyle with the little blue bow: too cute!

Penelope is a cute little kitschy movie with rich colours, scarves, bright leggings, purple coats, mary jane shoes, and even crunchy leaves! Not to mention James McAvoy. He can be counted as an accessory, right?

  5. I watched this movie a few years ago and fell head over heels for all the cute outfits! :) I have got to remember to try wearing a few of my cardigans backwards this year. ;)

Not sure I have a favorite autumn inspiration film, but I generally start gravitating towards darker, moodier movies. Usually I start watching a lot of 40s film noir or costume dramas! hehe.
