What's On My Sewing Table...

I'm planning to get stuck in to developing the pattern for my pussy bow blouse this weekend, but sometimes you just get the urge to sew something nice and easy, non? So I'm also whipping up another full skirt the same style as my Thinking in Shapes Skirt but probably gathered rather than pleated. Isn't this fabric dreamy? It's a Lucie Summers print, gifted to me by Annie at The Village Haberdashery. The collection is really lovely - take a peek if you dare...

Do you have any sewing plans this weekend? Do share!

    1. Great, isn't it? I got it at the Jeremy Deller exhibition at the Hayward.

  2. That is really lovely fabric, it will look gorgeous as a full skirt.

I have no sewing plans this weekend, as I'm waiting for some fabric to arrive for one dress, and a lace collar for a top, so I will be knitting instead!

  5. Oh, that fabric is delicious! Lisette released a similar twill that we got in Australia earlier this year. I can't wait to see your skirt :D

  6. The weekend is really the only time I sew - maybe I get an hour after work but not usually. This is the first long weekend of the summer and I plan to finish my picnic blanket skirt! I have everything cut and ready to go...

    1. What colours are you going with? I haven't yet found the perfect fabric combo. Thinking I might do B&W if I don't find any more interesting colours to pair together.

  8. That fabric is fantastic!

My weekend plans include attending a 3-year old's birthday party. I can't drink b/c I'm pregnant, so this could be a long one.

    1. Well hopefully the 3 year old won't be drinking either, so you'll be fine!

  10. I'm finishing up my Vogue 8723 dress and boy, it's a mega poofy skirt! I'm going to need somewhere fun to wear it, not just to the grocery store on the weekend!

  11. Great choice on making a skirt with this fabric - such a summery gorgeous colour!

  12. I love your fabric! I'm sewing the Meringue skirt from the Sew Colette Book this weekend. I'm planning on doing all the projects... well not this weekend but during the summer. I'm quite slow (not that experienced), so I only traced the pattern and cut it today. Well I also slept late & did a bit of cleaning, so didn't have time to sew. But I like taking things slow :)

  13. No sewing in my forecast as I need to "tidy up" my sewing/dining room first but I am working on my wool applique quilt blocks. I know, wool in 100 degree weather here! But I have AC so it's not a problem. Whoever invented air conditioning...bless them!
I love your fabric and actually I want to find some window pane red check for curtains in my kitchen...sort of similar.

    1. Tidying up is extremely important for sane sewing, I find :)

  14. My sewing for now is confined to tidying up my mending pile, which has some things in it from over a year ago. Definitely their time has come I think. I'm looking forward to some new projects down the line when I have my place tidied up.

    1. Urgh... the mending pile... I just try to ignore it in the hope it'll go away

  15. Love the fabric! On my sewing table are two things: my stitch library WIP for my Babylock Elizabeth and my class project for the Stitch and Slash class I'm taking at Craftsy.com. My mending basket needs attention, too. There is always something to work on! :)

  16. At first glimpse I thought your mug said "My Booze Fell"! And I was wondering why that wasn't a cry for help :p

With my machine away at el doctoro at the moment (boo :( ) I'm feeling at a bit of a loss this weekend. So with the extra space on the table, I've been doing a whole lot of cutting- for my shirt dress for Sunni's sewalong, and I've finally mustered the courage for Clovers so I have cut out the toile for a pair of those. It's still a bit boring without any stitchin' though! Whatever did I do in the days before sewing????!

  17. Yep, gorgeous fabric! Love those wonky stripes!

I'm still feeling frumpy n pregz, so might do some sewing tomorrow as I have a little mid year break from work... would love to sew up some long sleeve tshirt dresses! xoxo

  18. I'm going to be working on my pussy cat bow blouse design too. I did a toile in some vintage gingham but the neckline was a bit too high at the back, so after some radical work with the scissors (oops) I am going to have another shot at it in a vintage cream crepe. Fingers crossed!
