MIETTE SEWING PATTERN

The perfect sewing pattern for beginners! Gently flared wraparound skirt ties at the front in a delightful bow, with optional practical patch pockets. Super simple fitting, no fiddly closures, and detailed photo instructions to hold your hand at every step of the make. Hooray!

More experienced stitches will enjoy the fast construction and potential for customisation. Treat the skirt as a “blank canvas” to experiment with topstitching, trimmings, and embroidery.

    2. I'd love to be able to offer more sizes in the future, but at the moment the pattern is UK size 8 - 18. There's a great tutorial on grading sizes here.

    3. Too small for me too. Somewhat disappointing as the size 18 is a sewing size 18 barely and the size 16 is pretty small also. Given the high percentage of people who are a size 16 and above, I would have thought more sizes should be financially worth it. Grading up yourself is all very well but when you have to already alter patterns to fit, its just a bit too much work to justify buying the pattern. I'm a UK size 18

  3. Congratulations for the 2 patterns you created! They are awesome and it's a delight to read every post you write about sewing them.

The blue skirt and the polka dot top look like the perfect combination. It looks like they were created one of each other. Is the top pattern coming soon?

  7. Did Lauren shorten hers? Liked look of it slightly above knee. Any chance of a tutorial on how to do this & the edging she chose?

  10. Wow! That's beautiful. Since I've watched the Great British Sewing Bee, I feel more encouraged to go and make something with my sewing machine and just go walk around in it! Tilly, what is the first easiest things to make as a beginner?

    Thank you!

  13. Tilly I just made my miette and I love it. Quick question, should the back opening be at the side or to the back of the skirt to one side? Mine is more to one side and I can't tell from pics if that's right! I'm going to add a popper just to be on the safe side :)
