Your Makes!

Your Makes with Tilly and the Buttons sewing patternsHello everyone! It’s Kate, currently interning at Tilly and the Buttons. As the colder winter months approach I’ve had the pleasure of looking at all your autumnal makes. I've picked out a few of my favourites to show you - prepare to be inspired!

First up, let’s take a look at our newest pattern – the Cleo dungaree dress! Cleo is a gorgeous dungaree or pinafore dress, just perfect for the transition to the chillier weather – and, a deceptively simple sew! Emily tested the Cleo pattern for us (thanks, Emily!) and made hers in an eye catching print, whilst Rosie chose a fabulously bright pink cord for her Cleo, and added a bit of festive glam with gold sparkly buttons. Fancy coming to Tilly Towers and learning how to make your very own fabulous Cleo dungaree dress? There are still some spaces left on our December workshop!

Selmin opted for a dark blue denim for her Cleo with the optional split. Teamed with stripy tights, she looks ready for the changing seasons. Alise was one of the first to stitch up her Cleo dungaree dress using our Aubergine Needlecord Cleo kit (more in stock soon!). We love this rich, autumnal colour, and it pairs perfectly with a black turtleneck for a chic and cosy look.

Now, I know since the clocks went back and the nights draw in earlier, I can't WAIT to get home at the end of the day and jump into my pyjamas! Abi has made some glamorous Margot pyjama bottoms from Love at First Stitch. Her fluffy slippers definitely complete this look! Speaking of glam, have you seen Katie's velvet Martha dress? Gorgeous! Just the thing for the party season.

Jen and Emily have used beautiful blues for their knee length dresses. Emily is back with her amazing sewing skills again, this time adding a waist sash to the Rosa shirtdress. Meanwhile, Jen has made a gorgeous Bettine dress, worn at the beginning stages of her pregnancy – congratulations Jen!

Sheona skilfully selected a royal blue Liberty needlecord for her Rosa shirtdress, and Rosa’s rosy Rosa shirtdress is also made in cosy Liberty needlecord. This versatile pink shade is a lovely autumn addition as the trees begin to change colour!

These monochrome dresses are the perfect thing to transition from office to party! Laura’s colour blocked Megan is in Love at First Stitch and creates a flattering and timeless silhouette.  Jo has made her beautiful Martha dress in ponte jersey fabric, and is rocking the monochrome look!

We've seen a lot of Coco tops and dresses this month, and no wonder - it's the perfect pattern to whip up when you want to stay warm and still be chic. We are obsessed with the look Jade has created with her Coco - very 60’s, very Jackie O! Both Jade and Abi have added gorgeous heart pockets to their Coco dresses (great minds, ladies!). Abi has written a tutorial on her blog, so you can make like these two and add adorable pockets to your Coco.

A recent make that really caught Tilly's eye was Kath’s Marigold jumpsuit. We love how she has styled it as an alternative party frock, and of course who doesn’t love a bit of polka dot? Emma has fashioned her Marigold in a flower print, so cute!

Mary and Amy have created a couple of standout Arielle skirtsAmy’s Arielle is made out of super cosy duck egg blue wool, whilst Mary has gone for a floral Arielle. Both look amazing!

These bright and colourful makes really caught our eye. Louisa's Bettine dress features a scrumptious Rifle Paper Co floral design, whilst Abi has used a pink and black rose jersey print for her beautiful Agnes top hack (details of how to do this can be found here!).

Well, there you have it – a roundup of some of your fabulous makes. We love to swoon over all your creations so make sure to tag us on Instagram using the hashtag for the pattern (eg. #SewingCleo, #SewingCoco, or #LoveAtFirstStitch if it's from the book) - or you can email us with a pic of your makes.
