Kick off your 2018 sewing with our brand new pattern – the Mila dungarees!

If you’re already a dungarees aficionado, I won’t need to tell you how addictive these are to wear. And now you can make your own!

Never worn dungarees before or think they’re not your style? I’ve lost count of the number of people who thought the same about our Cleo dungaree dress and were pleasantly surprised when they tried it – in fact, it’s become a wardrobe staple for many of you! I’m hoping you’ll discover the same love for dungarees with our new pattern.

THE DESIGN

Designed for woven fabrics with a little stretch, the Mila dungarees are slim fitting on the hips and legs for a flattering silhouette. They feature stylish side button openings, and optional pockets for stashing your essentials on the front bib and booty. If you're a confident stitcher, choose a contrast thread for the topstitching - or go with a matching colour thread for a more subtle look.

Wear the Mila dungarees whatever the weather, with a t-shirt, button down shirt or roll neck sweater.

THE SEWING PATTERN

Our award-winning sewing patterns take you step-by-step through making clothes with jargon-busting instructions and colour photos of each step. The pattern pieces themselves are clearly labelled so you can see which seam is which and how they go together.

This pattern is suitable for confident beginners. The buckles may look fiddly, but they’re really easy to attach! The trickiest parts are topstitching - but you can totally do that in a matching thread if you want to hide any dodgy stitching! - and fitting the trousers - which is actually relatively simple thanks to stretch fabric, and which we’ll help you out with in an upcoming blog post.

Order the printed sewing pattern and we’ll send you a gorgeous package in the post. Made in the UK, our patterns are printed on durable paper which you can use again and again without it tearing or scrunching up (yesss!).

Prefer to print and assemble your pattern at home?  Buy the digital pattern and you’ll get an email in an instant with a PDF to download.

Mila will also be available from fabric shops and departments stores around the world. If your favourite shop doesn’t stock it, please ask them to – we’re always happy to have new stockists!

SIZING AND SUPPLIES

The Mila dungarees are designed for medium weight woven fabrics with a little stretch – essential for creating the modern fitted look on the legs, plus stretch fabric makes trousers a bit easier to fit – hooray! Look for stretch denim, stretch needlecord or stretch woven cotton with at least 2% lycra or spandex. We’ll share some fabric ideas with you in the next post.

Need buckles? We have a stash of them in our online shop, so stock up when you order your pattern. The no-sew buttons are easy to press on with your fingers, no hammer required!

The pattern includes eight sizes – from UK 6 – 20, US 2 – 16, or EUR 34 – 48. You can see the exact body measurements on the sizing chart. Need some help choosing your size or fitting your dungarees? We've got a blog post coming up next week, so keep your eyes peeled.

Find out how much fabric and other supplies you’ll need for each version on the shop page.
