January is a time when sewists can stay home and sew completely guilt-free... after all, it's your New Year resolution to sew more, right? And what's more appealing to the Stay Home and Sew Crew than stitching up snuggly garments you can throw on straight off the machine? Comfies, if you will.
We have a few ideas for snuggly home-sewn projects that you are going to want to wear right now. Lots of these are a great match for the organic jersey from our very first fabric collection which is perfect for cosy clothes! We collaborated with the Craft Cotton Company on the range, which has eight modern designs that are both wearable and fun.
Loungewear is just about the best category of clothes, don't ya think? The Stella hoodie and joggers from Tilly's second book, Stretch!, are perfect for mooching around the house in. You could make them in a classic sweatshirting, luxe stretch velvet, or use our jersey for a lighter weight pair. This make will be your January hibernation uniform!
Find yourself reaching for an extra cosy layer at this time of year? The Nora sewing pattern is your new best friend. It's super speedy to whip up, has no fiddly fastenings, and doesn't require fitting - hurrah! You can throw this one over your head and you're done.
The Nora sweater is just the thing for snuggling indoors and you can make it with a slouchy high neck or narrow round neckband if you prefer. If that wasn't enough to get you excited over, did you know that you can also transform Nora in a cardigan with our first digital add-on pattern pack? This casual boxy cardi is perfect for popping on when you feel the chill. You won't stop at one!
Why not make a Nora top in one of our Tilly and the Buttons fabrics? Our pick is the allsorts in multi or the wide stripe in multi.
Whether you're inside staying warm or outside feeling the cold, you can't beat a toasty top to wear under that huge knit jumper you've been wearing since the temperature dropped. One of our most popular patterns is the Freya top from Stretch!, and the mock neck version does a tip-top job of keeping you cosy.
We also really love the Frankie baseball t-shirt which is another pattern from Stretch! The raglan style looks particularly cute with bodice, sleeves and neckband in mix and match colours or prints.

In case you hadn't heard, Tilly's latest book, Make It Simple, is out in February 2020 - woohoo! The Juno pyjamas are so comfortable, they'll make bedtime your favourite event of the day. If you want to recreate the sample we made for the book, grab our allsorts organic jersey fabric in blue and stitch yourself a stylish night's sleep.
Another simple and comfy project you are going to be stitching on repeat from Make It Simple is the Tabitha t-shirt, which can also be made as a drawstring dress. With three sleeve lengths, it'll work in your wardrobe all year long. We have a feeling the dress variation will be particularly popular as it looks smart, but is ridiculously comfy to wear.
You could get this project lined up and ready to go by ordering something from our upcoming fabric collection. Use the wide stripe lilac jersey to recreate the sample in the book, and the love your nails print has a similar vibe to the one used for the Tabitha dress in the book.
Now all there is to do is grab a cup of cocoa and hit the sewing machine!
