The idea to create an Indigo add-on pack came from you, our lovely customers. We've been blown away by how many of you have made and loved Indigo, and totally impressed by the hacks we've seen popping up on Instagram and IRL at shows. We love re-working patterns, breathing new life into them and make them go even further. Your creativity inspired us to make this add-on pattern, so thank you :)

THE DESIGN
Indigo is an easy-breezy smock top or dress with gorgeous added details that effortlessly merge comfort and style. it has a bodice shaped with bust darts and has a gently curved empire waistline, with a floaty gathered skirt. Make it as a top with dipped gathered hem or a dress with added roomy pockets.
The Indigo add-on pattern gives you FOUR new beautiful design details...
In addition to the slim bracelet sleeves or whimsical flounce sleeves from the original pattern, the Indigo add-on pattern offers a short sleeve variation with optional ruffle, making it perfect for warmer weather (and very cute too) and a bang-on-trend elasticated puff sleeve. The add-on pattern also has a gorgeous button back detail and a gathered panel which attaches to the skirt to make it into an on-trend tiered midi dress. Seriously, the midi dress is extra swishy!
You can attach all the ruffle variations by using either a regular gathered seam or showstopping exposed frill seams. With all of the potential variations to make, you can really let your imagination run wild.
THE SEWING PATTERN
The add-on pattern includes:
- button back bodice and facing
- short sleeve with optional ruffle
- skirt panel to make a tiered midi dress
- puff sleeve
It includes instructions on how to make all new variations. You'll need pattern pieces from the original Indigo pattern, plus the original instructions to refer back to for some of the steps.
The Indigo top and dress is suitable for confident beginners. If you've made one or two beginner projects, you'll be ready to sew Indigo. The trickiest bits of the project are sewing buttons on the button back bodice and sewing gathers. If you haven't sewn buttonholes before, or need a bit of help with gathering we've got you covered! We've got lots of resources to talk you through these steps in a bit more detail, including how to sew one-step buttonholes and four-step buttonholes and gathering seams. If you're a visual learner, we also have some clear and concise videos to help you too.
The Indigo add-on pack is a digital-only pattern. Upon purchase, you'll receive a PDF pattern for immediate download. You can either print it at home on A4 or letter size paper, or send it to the copy shop to print large scale.
