There’s nothing we love more in the Tilly and the Buttons office than a new pattern release. After months of behind the scenes pattern development, we finally get to unleash our sewing plans that we’ve been dreaming about for so long.
Nikki here today. It’s safe to say we’ve gone truly wild for our latest sewing pattern, the Bobbi skirt and pinafore. On the last count, we’ve got ten Bobbis between us, with even more planned. We decided to have a Team Bobbi Day where we wore our makes in the office and snapped some pics... read on to see how different this pattern looks in different fabrics!
You can always depend on Kate to bring the colour. Seriously, her wardrobe is like a golden ray of sunshine, and her Bobbi is no exception! Kate made a pinafore in a sensational Rifle Paper Company canvas that she picked up from Sister Mintaka.
She added the hip pockets and finished it off with gold jeans buttons and buckles, which set off the print beautifully. Kate says she especially loves the back view, with those crossover straps.
Louise’s Bobbi pinafore is so gorgeous I'm trying to resist copying her myself! As the print is so striking she decided to leave off the front pockets and let the fabric do all the talking. She used a Ruby Star canvas fabric and set it off with complimentary rust topstitching and silver jeans buttons and buckles.
She’s also made another Bobbi pinafore in a mid-blue corduroy, with added hip pockets. There isn't any photographic evidence of it yet, but we've seen it and trust me when I say it's delicious!
Tilly teamed her Bobbi with a black Coco top in our new Tilly and the Buttons organic jersey, and I for one am here for it. This one is the rainbow stripe version - it's currently sold out in our shop (back soon!), but you can have a look at our other brand spanking new fabric range on the online shop and perhaps pick some up yourself :)
She’s also made a dreamy indigo denim Bobbi pinafore with all the delicious details (hip and bib pockets) which I 100% recommend you check out! Tilly says her favourite thing about Bobbi is you can layer basically underneath it - and by "anything" we all know she really means all the Breton stripey tops...
And last but no means least (if I do say so myself) are my not one, but two Bobbi skirts! I also have a light blue denim pinafore but thought three office outfit changes in one day might be a bit excessive.
My first Bobbi skirt is made from a non-stretch indigo denim from Guthrie & Ghani, with hip pockets, white topstiching and silver jeans buttons. This is the perfect casual skirt. I’ve only recently finished it and it’s getting so much wear already - I’ve worn it with shirts, graphic tees, cardigans and cute jumpers and will not stop until I’ve paired it with every top in my wardrobe.
My second Bobbi skirt is made from a cinnamon coloured stretch corduroy from a mystery stall at the Handmade Festival (sorry, I can’t remember where!) and I added some gorgeous white and gold buttons. I added the super cute patch pockets and flaps which I think make it look totally different from the denim skirt. It feels girly and retro at the same time. In short, I love it.
