Inside Our Online Sewing Workshops

Wanna take a peek inside our online sewing workshops? If you haven’t taken an online class before, or are just wondering what ours are like, today I thought I’d share a bit more about what you get once you sign up to our video classes:

Make Friends with a Sewing Machine
Learn to Sew Skirts
Sew Your Own Knockout Dress
Learn to Sew Jersey Tops
Sew Your Own Shirt or Shirt Dress

I created a shiny new website for the new workshops (omg it took forever!!). It's much nicer to look at and easier to navigate than the previous platform we’ve been using - I hope you like it!

As soon as you’ve registered and completed your profile, you’ll get access to the online classroom. You’ll also get an email straight away with your log in details – save these for later, so you can visit the course site whenever you need a sewing fix!

The first thing you’ll see is a welcome video from moi, introducing you to the course and sharing some tips on how to make the most of an online class. You can then dive straight into the lessons!

There’s then a contents page for each workshop where you can get an overview of the course outline. You can also jump between each lesson easily using the menu on the right hand side of the lesson pages.

The workshop format has been designed for busy people who want to squeeze creativity into their lives when it suits them. It’s broken down into manageable, bitesize lessons that you can take over a number of evenings after work, or in a binge sewing session one weekend. As you get 24/7/365 access with no deadlines, you can choose what days and times work best for you.

The lessons are taught through videos, written tuition, downloadable resources and checklists. Since the best way of learning is to get hands on yourself, there’s a real emphasis on practical learning – with succinct lessons and action points to encourage you to try out the techniques yourself straight away.

The videos have been filmed and edited by a fab production crew who usually work in telly. If you’re like me, you don’t have time to sit through loooong videos - so we’ve edited out the boring bits and get straight to the tips and techniques that you need to know. That way you can watch the lesson, then get straight on putting it into practice!

You also get to join a community of other keen stitchers. There's a discussion area where you can chat to other participants, ask questions, and share photos of what you’re making. The Learn to Sew Jersey Tops workshop, which we launched in June 2015, has evolved into a really supportive place to inspire and get inspired by other people – there are some amazing versions of the Agnes top on there!

Remember, you can take the classes whenever you like, so if you don't have time this week, you can pencil it in the diary for another time :)

See you in class!
