I haven't done one of these posts for quite some time, so indulge me a little here. Sometimes all I want to do is spend half a day in my pyjamas browsing online haberdasheries for swoonsome fabric. Other people like to chillax with recreational drugs, I'm just
way cooler. Here are some of the delights that have made my
Pinterest board recently. Looking at the list afresh, one could almost posit a narrative in the progression from muted colours and wintry themes to a longing for the burst of Spring...
Swoooooon!!!

Oh dear. I wish I hadn't seen this. I can't believe that Cameo Spring is an Amy Butler -- it's so different from her usual! And that beautiful deep green Liberty. Oh, oh, oh, DEAR!
ReplyDeleteOoh I like Frida's Garden, that really is some fabulous fabric.
ReplyDeleteI made a skirt out of that Frida's Garden fabric, only mine has a beige background instead of black. It's one of my favorite things I've ever made, and I always get compliments on the fabric.
ReplyDeleteSwoon indeed, I adore these Tilly! And guess what!?! I have the bird one (3rd one up), I got mine from Ditto a while back ;o)
ReplyDeleteBeing a New Zealander, I LOVE the Tui and Pohutakawa! So much that I might have to hunt some down locally (but it's sure to be very expensive quilting cotton). It makes me think of the glorious sunshine we *should* have right now, of the fact that very soon the pohutakawa will be in bloom, and of the tui that is right now singing in the tree next door, sweetly oblivious of the grey drizzle.
ReplyDeleteI have the Tui fabric, I got it from Spotlight, they do that version plus a version on a dark background which I got, I love it. I used to for a peg apron but now I think I want more to make into a dress! :) It is expensive quilting cotton but a good weight for sewing garments, I got mine when they had a big quilting cotton sale so I'm going to wait for the next one because it seems to be something they always have in stock :)
DeleteAs Lucy's post suggests, the Tui is the bird, and the Pohutukawa is the tree (not the other way around, as the fabric name implies) The Tui's song is amazing: any interested folk can have a listen here http://youtu.be/Q8diWFGM6sQ :)
Delete(sorry, my post sounds a bit like I'm telling you what you already know, curiouskiwi, which was obviously not my intention. I meant it for any international peeps who hadn't been to NZ/seen a tui and a pohutukawa - just wanted to make sure people had our flora and fauna around the right way!! I'm definitely going to look for this one next time I'm in spotlight - cheers for the tip)
DeleteoooOH wow! i absolutely love the Frida's Garden print! so gorgeous! ;D
ReplyDeleteI like the Tui birds best :) I went to NZ for the first time last November and can't wait to go again next March!

Wow, gorgeous! I love the water chevron print the best :)
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely Tilly! As I am a real novice in this, I find myself increadibly lost inside fabric shops, I don't know what's what yet and ask so many questions that I probably drive the sellers crazy...
ReplyDeleteThere's usually so much choice in there that it is difficult and daunting for me...
I Went to the Goldhawk Road in Shepherds Bush last week and found that they had a great selection of fabrics at good prices! Pati x
For some reason I can't reply above, but thanks! Spotlight makes it nice and easy. I really hate that store, but they do have a good range of lovely New Zealandey prints :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, if you miss the last sale, there's always another soon!
