Boy, you guys have had fun with our Sew a Xmas Sweater Contest! We are simply blown away with the creative entries that have had us smiling from ear-to-ear every time they hit our inbox.
The entries are in, the judges have cast their votes, and we are VERY happy to announce our prize winners! Drumroll please...
Our grand prize goes the purrrfect festive Freya top (from Tilly's book Stretch!) by Ruby. Her pretty kitty me sweater was inspired by her gorgeous collection of cats (including cutie-pie, Potato, in the pic), who get up to mischief the second her tree is up.
Ruby used fleece-back red sweatshirting to make her garment super snuggly. She wins an amazing haul from our sponsors, Happy Fabric, who will be sending her a Happy Press 3 in pink, a Silhoutte Portrait Cutter, and a vinyl pack to make everything glittery.
Congratulations Ruby - and Merry Catmas!
We also have ten runner up prizes to award to some unbelievable entries - spoiler alert... you are going to love them all!
Nikki stitched this stunning Christmas tree Coco dress using a textured knit fabric. She added trimmings to the collar and cuffs and created her tree with strips of ribbon. If you look closely, you will see jingle-bells stitched on the tree - there won't be a silent night in her house this Xmas.
Nikki wins a £50 voucher from Sewisfaction - yay!
Gin-loving Ruth embroidered this amazing Freya sweater using a mustard loop-back knit fabric. She spent two weeks perfecting her cocktail-loving mouse which couldn't be any cuter.
Ruth wins a £50 voucher from Sister Mintaka - squeak, squeak!
Can you guess who inspired Kim's entry? She stitched up this sweet sweater as an ode to her much loved pup, Obi. She made a Freya and embellished it with some of her favourite things: sequins, gold piping, and jingle-bells - with the star of the show being her felt applique Obi.
Kim wins a £50 voucher from Sew Me Sunshine - woof, woof!
Claudia lovingly embroidered a fairy-tale Freya top for her 13-year-old daughter to wear on their Christmas holiday. It was inspired by a big story-book she was given as a child, that accompanies drinking tea, eating oranges, and listening stories to round the Xmas tree.
Claudia wins a £50 voucher from Cotton Reel Studio - the end : )
Beatriz created this kitchy 3D winter scene on her velvet Nora sweater using felt, sequins, bells, beads, ribbon, and yarn. She used stuffing to make her tree stand out and added ornaments to it - we think it's so much fun.
Beatriz wins a £50 voucher from Fabric Godmother - she sleighed it!
Our youngest stitcher (I think ever!), Pip, made this festive Coco top for his Mum, Charlie. He came up with the idea, sewed it himself, and embroidered the tree lights with beads. What a lucky Mum!
Pip and Charlie win a £50 voucher from Clothspot - yippee!
Hayley made this illuminated Stella hoodie using applique and vinyls. If you look closely you'll see thread spools, scissors and a needle - clearly Rudolph has been nosing in the sewing box.
Hayley wins a £50 voucher from Lamazi Fabrics - Merry Stitchmas!
What's more festive than a snow globe at Christmas? Danielle created this magnificent gingerbread scene on her maternity-hacked Coco top, complete with lights, pom poms, and glitter stars. She made one gingerbread man for everyone in her family (including her bun in the oven!), and cleverly attached the globe using magnets so she can remove it to wash easily and wear it any time of the year.
Danielle wins a £50 voucher from Minerva Crafts - starry, starry nights!
I'm sure cat-owners can relate to Anna's Christmas predicament... how to get lights on the tree without her kitty getting to them first! She made a Frankie using our sparkly sweatshirt fabric and added applique and gems.
Anna wins a £50 voucher from Sew Essential - purrrfect!
Carolin turned a TATB's classic striped Coco top into a festive scene with appliqué and vinyls. Her design was inspired by riding in a black cab to Harrods when she was five, a happy memory that makes her feel super Christmassy.
Carolin wins a £50 voucher from Tilly and the Buttons - woo hoo!
And a huge thank you to our lovely guest judges, Sophia Palmer, Zeena Shah, Hannah Read-Baldrey, and Charlotte Newland, who joined Tilly in the impossible task of choosing our winners. They were soooo blown away with the entries, you made their job very tricky!
Thank you to everyone who entered the contest - we hope you enjoyed taking part, and have fun wearing your very festive me mades!
