Lady in Red...

Sew Your Own Etta Dress!Sew Your Own Etta Dress!

Is anyone else out there totally in love with the Etta sewing pattern?! Lexy here (both behind the keys and on your screens!) and it's my pleasure to show you the Etta dress that Vanesssa made when she explained how to line it. It's just too gorgeous not to share!

Sew Your Own Etta Dress!

Ness used one of our Etta sewing kits to make this stunner. The material is a gorgeous quality sateen, which is super easy to sew, and the slight stretch to it means that it hugs your curves to flatter, whilst allowing movement for comfort - the best of both worlds!

This version includes the statement collar and faux pockets (which are surprisingly easy to make). We opted for cap sleeves for this Etta, which are perfect for summer sunshine. The pattern also comes with the option of très chic three-quarter-length sleeves.

If this all sounds a bit complicated but you'd like to make yourself an Etta dress, check out our online video workshop, where you'll be guided through the whole process.

I can absolutely envisage wearing this to a wedding, party, or if I want to feel a bit swish in the studio! It also feels super fancy what with the silky lining, and the material has a slight sheen to it, making it all the more glamorous (and we do love a bit of glamour...).

  2. I love this! I love how your patterns always suit everyone, and this is absolutely beautiful on Lexy! I'm still a relative beginner, so I'm wondering what track I'd need to follow to get here ....

    2. Hi Cindy,

We're so happy you like it! The Etta looks deceptively tricky to make, but it's actually quite straightforward. The thing that some people may shy away from in the invisible zip, but once you've done it a few times to practice, it's actually quite easy. I made myself an Etta, and Vanessa showed me how to put an invisible zip in with one hand!

We also have an online video workshop to make the Etta, Sew Your Own Knockout Dress, where you are taken through all the steps to make yourself a gorgeous dress. Here's more info:

      I hope this is helpful!

  3. Hello - It would be great if you could source this fabric in black and make up a Etta sewing kit ... it would make the perfect, classic black dress for so many occasions!
