Which is your favourite?

Thanks for sharing Tilly, what a great historical timeline of high fashion! I think my favourite covers are Aug 1938 and Aug 1948...oh and May 1929...swoon!
ReplyDeleteOh excellent, I'll spend some time looking through this on the weekend. Would love to see the archives of other countres too. Have you seen the post Chistina just did at Fashions Most Wanted? A round-up of best Vogue covers of the 60s for UK and US, much to drool over there x
ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful and inspiring! Thank you Tilly for sharing these.
ReplyDeleteOoh they're lovely. My faves are Aug 1938, Aug 1943 and Jan 1950. I also like the complicated plaits on the March 1970 cover, reminds me of the scary hairstyles my mum used to send me to school wearing. x
ReplyDeleteFantastic, thanks for sharing. I can't choose a favourite, I think I like the early illustrated ones the best though. Perhaps December 1917? I'm off to trawl through the rest of the archive...I may be some time.
ReplyDeleteI am intrigued as to why May 1929 is frowning while on the phone. Is her boyfriend breaking up with her? Is she getting bad news? Does she have a bad connection and is struggling to hear? Very mysterious.
ReplyDeleteThis is a treasure trove! It's so hard to choose, but the August 1957 one is probably my favourite.
ReplyDeleteNovember 1949, because She looks so elegant and ambitious! Her hat is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteCan't beat those old Vogue covers for stylishness! I have to say that it's a toss-up between the 20s covers and the 50s ones for me; I love the styles of both era's fashion illustration/photography so!

Beautiful, thanks for sharing! It's fun to see the styles as well as the colors and fabrics used back in the day :)
ReplyDeleteLovely! The muff and matching fur trimmings on the 1938 cover are particularly amazing!
ReplyDeleteWow - thanks for sharing, Tilly. I love Feb 1933 and want to live in Nov 1949...
ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty, thanks for sharing. I'm in between the 1938 and the 1948 covers. They're both wonderful.
ReplyDeletePenny Dreadful - no, I haven't seen that. I'll check it out!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh.. definitely May 1970, though some of the older ones are lovely too.
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant! Thanks for sharing. My old roomate had that Jerry Hall cover in poster size hanging in our old living room. GLAMOROUS!
ReplyDeleteDrooling ..... Impossible to prefer one over the other, without a doubt the 40s and 50s styles are more appealing to wear now, but to enjoy the view of these images, all are gifts to my eyes ...
ReplyDeleteLovely images, thanks for sharing! Looking at these images makes me wonder, when (and why) they decided to clutter the covers with a lot of text. I love the old covers where the images aren´t covered in text and headlines.
ReplyDeleteI love vintage magazine covers! My two favorite here: a toss up between Aug 38 & Aug 57.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS!! Thanks for sharing :) xx
ReplyDeleteDefinitely April 1948. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow, these are gorgeous covers! I would have to go with any of the covers between 1960 - 1971. The false eyelashes just do it for me.. ;)
