Spring has sprung... on my bum... for I embroidered some daisies on the back pocket of my new Jessa jeans!

I'd been itching to make a classic seventies style blue denim version of our Jessa flares pattern ever since Nikki made a similar pair during our pattern development phase. I wanted to add some kind of embellishment to them to make them unique. At first I was thinking of doing some topstitching with rainbow thread, but once the blossom started coming out I decided to hand-embroider some sweet daisies onto the back pocket to signal the start of spring.

I used lazy daisy stitch for the petals, a French knot for the flower heads, and backstitch for the stems. As the design is pretty simple, I freestyled it straight onto the fabric, making it up as I went along.

If you want to try making something similar, you could easily experiment with different embroidery stitches and colours to create a whole meadow of flowers on your tush!

To me, the seventies are always in style, but it's a bonus to know that flares are in fashion this summer. These jeans are soooo comfy - I'm usually a skinny jeans kinda gal, so it's a lovely relief to have more room to manoeuvre! My denim has a little bit of added elastane which makes them extra easy to move in.

I'm wearing my Jessas with one of my Tabitha T-shirts, made using the pattern from my book Make It Simple. It's the perfect pairing for a casual weekend look.
