Statement Sweaters

If you watched the accompanying vlog, you'll see I've certainly been stocking up on my plain sweatshirt fabrics! I'm totally obsessed with the sewing patterns we're working on behind the scenes, so consider those fabric choices a clue... But I'll be reserving at least one for a Billie sweater. I can't decide between adding a touch of embroidery to mine or creating an iron-on transfer (much like our MAKER decal).

Do you like the look of the sweet shoulder ruffle on the pink number above? Well last year, Tilly created a free downloadable ruffle template to hack your Billie sweater with. For all the details, go to this blog post - cute!

Lovely Loungewear

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

Honestly, most days I don't want to wear anything that doesn't have an elasticated waistband or a cosy hood! Luckily it's the season of snuggly loungewear and with so many toasty sweatshirt fabric options online, it's easy to sew yourself matching Stella hoodie and joggers set like the dreamy lilac one above, or perhaps grab our Juno leggings pattern and opt for a lighter weight jersey fabric for the perfect bottoms (I love wearing Juno to sleep in!)

Base Layers

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

I'm Freya and Tabitha obsessed and I'm not afraid to admit it! Those are my go-to base layers for speedy, versatile jersey tops. But don't forget about Coco and Agnes for stand-alone sewing patterns. Who said base-layers have to be boring? We're spoiled with all these gorgeous jersey fabric designs...

Why not add a breast pocket detail or a teeny-tiny iron-on patch.

Trendy Trousers

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

Needlecord is one of my absolute favourite fabrics to sew with for winter. Browsing the 'new-in' sections of my fave high street stores, needlecord trousers are definitely having a moment. I especially loved the super simple, elasticated waist ones and I'm tempted to get out my Safiya trousers pattern to get the look. Flared styles are also making a comeback and our Jessa trousers pattern is ready for this moment!

Stylish Smocks

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

It wouldn't be one of my sewing inspiration posts without a viscose smock dress or two! Luckily this easy to sew (and wear!) style never goes out of fashion and works all year round depending on what you pair your dress/top with.

Our Indigo smock dress and top sewing pattern has so many possibilities, especially with our Add-on pack (did you see the NEW puff sleeves?) and it's so fabric versatile, from cotton to viscose and seersucker, you'll never get bored of Indigo.

Denim Darlings

1 / 2 / 3 / 4

Denim is so satisfying to work with and it's a great base for building your outfits. Whether you fancy tackling a button-up Bobbi skirt or pinafore, or our stylish Mila dungarees, you'll be SEW glad you made them and are guaranteed to be on your most-worn list!

Button Up

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

Shirt details are everywhere right now, and it's a great way to perfect your buttonhole sewing. When sewing shirts, if you're looking for something a little easier to work with, then a more stable fabric like cotton poplin can be a great alternative to viscose. But like our Indigo dress, our Lyra shirt dress lends itself to a variety of fabrics.
